Energy conservation campaign
DIMAPUR: Society for protection of ecology and environment, Peren district under the chairmanship of Khrienou C. Metha will be launching its 1st energy conservation programme on October 25 at Benreu tourist village. The society would distribute CFL bulbs to all households and make the village a complete ‘energy saved village’ in whatever little way it could help. It maybe recalled that this non-profit making society was formed by members of the district planning and development board Peren with a view to create awareness among the rural masses of the district in conservation, protecting and preserving of ecology and environment.
‘Highway Start Voice Hunt 2010’ result
DIMAPUR: ‘Highway Start Voice Hunt 2010’ 2nd round vote counting was carried out on October 15, at Music Ground in the presence of DNSU representative Akum. The result will be declared on October 16 at IMC hall, 5pm.
EE Panteang to grace
DIMAPUR: MLA and advisor DUDA, EE Panteang would grace the inaugural function of water supply from Yongkei source Yei-Yonghong to Kechang reservoir at Yonglenwe Khel, Changlangshu village on October 29, 10 am. The inaugural programme would also be attended by a representative from the Ministry of Home Affairs as guest of honour.
Awareness prog on govt sponsored loans
KOHIMA: An awareness programme on SHGs and government sponsored loans 2010-11 would be conducted by state urban development agency on October 20 at 9:30 am at Conclave Hall near Ao Church Kohima. Secretary of urban development and chairman, SUDA, Norman Pusture will be the chief guest. Identification of beneficiaries, objectives and components, benefits etc., of government sponsored loans; social structure would be some of the points for discussion.
Inter-school choir competition
KOHIMA: An inter-school choir competition will be held on October 16 at 11 am at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Kohima with I. Himato Zhimomi, commissioner and secretary, planning and coordination, tourism, art and culture, as the chief guest. Jointly organized by Unlock Entertainment and Treeline Foundation, the event is initiated as an awareness campaign against global warming.

STKK annual picnic
DIMAPUR: Suruhuto Tokukujo Kuqhakulu Kohima (STKK) annual picnic would be held on October 23 at naga heritage Kisama. The union has invited all the family members and in-laws of STKK to join the annual picnic. BSI Dimapur Auxiliary silver jubilee
DIMAPUR: The Bible Society of India Dimapur Auxiliary would celebrate its silver jubilee on November 6 and 7 at Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur with Dr. B.K Pramanik general secretary BSI Bangalore as chief guest and Rev. Dr. Ajoy Kumar Lama, general secretary, CBCNEI Guwahati as guest of honour. Delegates from Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Karbi Anglong would participate in the programme. Rashtrapati testing camp held
DIMAPUR: Altogether 15 guides attended the five day Rashtrapati testing camp at STC Maligaon which started October 8. Rashtrapati testing camp is the highest testing camp in girl guiding to earn award in the country - the President’s guide award. Meanwhile, Nagaland would also be conducting a programme of world girl guiding centenary celebration at Dimapur on October 22 at 10am at DDSC stadium. All former guides, well wishers have been extended invitation to be a part of the centenary celebration of world girl guiding.
DIMAPUR: The internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) of Patkai Christian College would be organizing two days seminar on the topic “Best Practices in Higher Education for Quality Management”. The seminar will be held at the Bundrock auditorium on October 22 at 10am. Commissioner & Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, F. P. Solo, will be the chief guest. The seminar will be attended by the participants from Manipur University, Dibrugarh University and Nagaland University. The topics for discussion are best practices in curricular aspects, best practices in teaching, learning and evaluation, best practices in governance and leadership, best practices in research, consultancy and extension, best practices in student support and progression, best practices in the development of infrastructure and learning resources, dissemination of best practices, impact of the best practices, the context that required the initiative of the practice, internalization of best practices, methodology of the practice with steps involved in implementing the practice, goal and objective aimed to achieve by implementing the practice, etc. The seminar is being sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, An Autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission. KVC asks BRO to construct road
DIMAPUR: Khonoma Village Council (KVC) has appealed to the Border Roads Organization (BRO) GREF to start constructing the proposed road sector of Kohima-Pedi-Peren (Km 0.00 to Km 95.00) which includes 21kms of Khonoma land for construction of a double lane road.
Khonoma Village Council secretary Kevisekho Chucha in a press release stated that though the village council had signed no objection certificate with the GREF on July 17, till now nothing has been done to construct the road.
According to Khonoma Village Council secretary, the village council agreed to donate the required land for the construction of the road free of cost between km 13.00to km 34.00 and not with the intention to demand for compensation from the BRTF (GREF) in the construction of the road as per the guidelines.
Khonoma Village Council also decided to provide necessary security and manpower.
Meanwhile, the Dzuna Bridge between Khonoma and Jotsoma collapsed on October 9 completely cutting off Khonoma village.
In this regard, Khonoma village council appealed to the district administration to look into the sufferings of the people and start reconstructing the bridge without delay.
DUDA office shifted
DIMAPUR: Director, Alan Gonmei has informed that directorate of underdeveloped areas (DUDA) Kohima has been shifted to erstwhile NPSC office building near DC office complex, Kohima.
