Responding to a news item that appeared in a local daily on October 14 under the caption “Unattended garbage: An eyesore”, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has clarified that it has not received any complain/information from the responsible colony regarding unattended garbage in the area.
The DMC, in an e-mailed statement said that it was “regretful” that the council was not able to collect monthly residential sanitary tax (RST) of Rs.10 from the houses in the area. Stating that this was a clear indication that residents of the area were not cooperating with the DMC, the statement said it however, ready to extend its service to all, provided information was given to the responsible person at the DMC office.
While asserting it would continue to render its services to the people of Dimapur, the DMC said it also expects the public to be co-operative and responsive towards DMC so it could render better services to the people. Meanwhile, it may be mentioned here that unattended garbage strewn along the roadside without proper waste bin at ADC Court area, Dimapur was also highlighted in September 11 issue of this local daily.
