ATMA Peren district organized an inter-district training cum exposure trip to Dimapur district on October 12 and 13. ATMA project director, Amenla along with Dr. Rokozo, Zieleigai BTT conveners and Temjensoba and Namthui BTT members from the block level led the farmers group.
On the first day, training and field visit was confined to ICAR complex, where Dr. Anamika Sharma, programme coordinator Dimapur KVK Jarnapani delivered a topic on ‘Water harvesting technology’ in relation to winter crops production, Sourev Sharma SMS plant pathologist dwelt on methods of controlling pest and diseases of winter crops, while animal production specialist, Dr. Apibeni SMS spoke on swine production.
After the technical session, the farmers visited National Research Centre on Mithun farm where participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland witnessed different breeds of Mithun.
Interaction with ICAR and KVK scientists on piggery, cattle diary, poultry, rabbitery, duckery cum fishery pond management as well as vermin-compost units were also carried out.
On the second day, farmers visited Dimapur DIMUL, Nagaland Bamboo Mission Resource Centre, district sericulture reeling and weaving unit and fishery aquarium unit at Dimapur.
Altogether 31 members from Tening, Peren and Jalukie blocks participated in the training.
ATMA project director Peren expressed gratitude to different organizations and departments for extending their cooperation in making the programme a success.
