Seminar on Kyong language learning

A day long seminar on ‘Kyong language learning and Basic Choreography’ organized by Purana Bazar Lotha Baptist Church for the youth department was held at Lotha Baptist Church premise on Saturday with Nribemo Ngullie, deputy commissioner of excise (narcotics) as the main resource persos.
Stressing on the importance of ‘Mother Tongue’, the resource person called upon the Kyong youth to learn Kyong language thoroughly in order to gain respect from one’s community.
Stating its never too late to learn and speak one’s own mother tongue, the resource person requested the Kyong youth to take serious effort in learning the most classic language which is one’s own mother tongue.
He also elaborated that language can be divided into two categories i.e. the commonly recognized language and dialect.
Maintaining that Kyong language itself is rich dialect, he called upon the youngsters to use as much vocabulary as possible on paper or while conversing in Kyong language.
Earlier, K. Kikon youth director, setting the objective of the seminar said identity of mother tongue was the beginning of understanding and also assist in understanding multi-language.
The seminar also covered basic choreography by pastor, John Kikon of ‘Victory in the Word Ministry’.
Basing on the 1971 census, 1653 dialects exists in India apart from the recognized language such as Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu etc.
In the world today, about 179 known languages with about 544 unknown languages which is being recognized.
