Water pipeline damaged at Kohima

DIMAPUR: Water supply at Kohima would be disrupted as the main pipeline 300mm dia-CI pipe had been damaged between Dzuna source and treatment plant at Science College.
Informing this, PHE urban division executive engineer Vikeduolie has requested water supply consumers to bear with the department as restoration work was likely to take 4-5 days.
ZBCC Sunday School children’s conference
DIMAPUR: The Sunday school department of Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC), Peren children’s conference was organized on October 15 to 17 under the theme “Let the Children Come”. The conference hosted by Beisumpuikam Baptist Church and was participated by 1272 children from different ZBCC Churches. The main activities of the conference were worship, teaching and competition on choreography, Bible recitation and choir.
The Sunday school department of the ZBCC has extended gratitude to Beisumpuikam Baptist Church for hosting the conference, resource persons from King’s Kids (YHAM), Guwahati for their valuable services in teaching the children, speakers of worship services for their ministry and to all Churches Sunday school teachers and Church elders for their participation. The next 11th Sunday school children conference would be hosted by Ngwalwa Baptist Church in 2011.
Entrepreneurs awareness programme
DIMAPUR: A two-day entrepreneurship awareness programme (EAP) under Dimapur district was held on October 7 and 8 under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur Maongwati Aier. Resource person of the programme, Biraj Das from IIE Guwahati delivered lectures on various topics of entrepreneurship.
A total of 183 “genuine” entrepreneurs were selected on the second day by district selection committee. The programme was attended by directorate of industries & commerce Kohima senior food technologist Khrielie Peseyie, NIDC Dimapur general manager Nihoto, SBI regional office lead bank manager D. Sakia and DIC Dimapur general manager E. John Ezung among others.

Police martyrs commemoration parade
KOHIMA: The annual police martyrs commemoration parade in honour of police personnel’s sacrifice for the defence of law and order would be geld on October 12 at 9 am at Tennis Court, New Reserve Phesama. State DG, K. Kire will take salute at the event.
KSUK meeting
KOHIMA: An executive meeting of Khiamniungan Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK) would be held on October 23 at 10 am at its treasurer’s residence. All executive members, former executives and senior students have been asked to attend the meeting.
B.Ed application forms
KOHIMA: Application forms for B.Ed to the Nagaland College of Teacher Education Kohima 2011 batch would be issued from October 25 to 29. Dimapur: The Alumni Association of School of Agriculture Sciences & Rural Development (AASASRD) Medziphema has invited all its members and well wishers to the 16th freshers’ social cum 32nd SASRD foundation day on October 20 at SASRD Medziphema campus with Ralanthung Yanthan, deputy speaker NLA as the chief guest. In a press release Thepusa Nakhro, publicity and info secy AASASRD said the celebration will highlight on transformation of agriculture sector in India to be presented by Dr. B.P. DIMAPUR: Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has convened an emergency executive meeting on October 21, 9 am at WSH office, Chekiye village. Members have been requested to attend the meeting.
AUDK fasting and prayer service
DIMAPUR: Alaphumi Union Dimapur and Kohima (AUDK) would be conducting fasting and prayer service on October 23 at the residence of AUDK chairman Hezheto Kinimi at Chekiye village, 3rd Mile Dimapur from 7 am till 12 noon. All members have been requested to attend the programme.

DIMAPUR: A meeting of all government appointed Sumi teachers of Dimapur district has been convened on October 23, 10 am at WSH office Chekiye village, 3rd Mile Dimapur.
YAWD conference cum college meet
DIMAPUR: Youth association of Wokha district (YAWD) 1st general conference cum college meet would be held on October 23 at auditorium hall Don Bosco higher secondary school, Wokha under the theme ‘introspection for better hope’. A E Lotha secretary, Nagaland legislative assembly will be the chief guest, Ramongo Lotha (IAS) deputy commissioner Wokha and Zumchilo Patton, president, Nagaland catholic women association would be delivering the exhortation. N Thomas Ngullie, ex-minister would be the chief guest on the closing day while and Dr T M Lotha ex-minister would be the guest of honour and exhortation delivered by Principal Don Bosco higher secondary school Wokha. All the college students and colony youth members have been requested to attend the function.
CSU Saksi conducts surprise checking
DIMAPUR: The Chang Students’ Union (CSU), Saksi NAP sector conducted a surprise checking on October 18 in all the commercial establishments within the sector. During the raid, the CSU seized a large quantity of expired goods such as biscuits, noodles, cosmetics, spices, baby products, etc. The seized goods were later burned in the middle of the sector’s taxi parking. CSU further warned that such checking would be carried out in future and strict actions taken against defaulters. The union also appealed the public of the sector to bring forth complains related to expiry of goods, over pricing, selling of banned substances, etc., within the union’s jurisdiction so as to serve the public better.
Capacity building programme in Mon
DIMAPUR: ATMA, Mon, Chen Block conducted Capacity Building programme at Longching village on October 15. The programme was chaired by Dr. Ruokuovilie, programme coordinator, KVK, Mon while Kerimenla SMS, horticulture and BTT convennor, Chen block trained the participants on value addition in fruits, vote of thanks by Longching VDB secretary followed by distribution of preservative to participants.
Liquor, gutkhas seized at Sovima
DIMAPUR: Sovima village youth organization (SVYO), Sovima women society (SWS) and Sovima students’ union (SSU) conducted a joint checking under D, E and F Khel sectors of the village on October 16 and seized a large quantity of banned liquor and gutkhas. A joint press note issued by the three organizations stated that the seized items, worth thousands of rupees, were later burned in the presence of the public. Meanwhile SVYO, SWS and SSU informed business community not to sell banned drugs, wine and any kind of “pan masala” under the village jurisdiction as they would be conducting such surprise checkings at times and further cautioned that stern action would be initiated against defaulters, leading to expulsion from the village.
ZVC chairman informs Zanger citizens
DIMAPUR: Zanger Village Council chairman, R. K Tokiumong has informed Zanger public of Pungro sub division under Kiphire district that each and every citizen of Zanger village should be known and recognized by Yimchunger tribe and “not by any other dialect” viz Chirr, Langa and Tikhir. The chairman stated that any citizen in any government or social organization using the above mentioned tribes’ dialects would do so at their own peril and that the village authority shall take appropriate action against such individuals or groups.
