The new team of United Sangtam Likhüm Bümji (USLB) office bearers held its first general session on October 12 at Kiphire and resolved to cooperate and support the Yimchungers in their demand for a separate district, if the state government approved.
USLB executives also deliberated on the organization’s pending issues, reviewed and amended previous agendas while adopting new resolutions as well. A press release issued by USLB president Selitong informed that the house also resolved to appeal to the state government to approve and include Sumis of Kiphire district under 8% job reservation quota. The organization also decided to urge upon the government to take immediate necessary steps to repair and reconstruct National Highway 205 (155), the lifeline for the entire population of the district, as it was in a “deplorable condition”.
