Tribal union Chumukedima town (TUCT) Tuesday informed that the case of “implicated rape” of a Lotha girl in Chumukedima August 4 last, was amicably settled between the two parties in its court. A notice issued by TUCT president Khuluvi Asumi and general secretary Mhashino Kuotsu said that a “compromise deed” was accepted after the accused Thepfuzoto apologized to victim and the family for his wrong act. Thepfuzoto, in an apology statement (append with the notice), said he tendered due apology to the victim and her guardian for the wrongful sexual activity committed by him. He also deeply regretted and apologized for the irresponsible, insensible and provocative words spoken individually/collectively against the victim and guardian. Further, Thepfuzoto declared that he would not implicate the victim and her family members in future pertaining to the case, and pledged that he shall be held responsible if any eventuality arise thereon. Meanwhile, the tribal union has requested all responsible no to issue any press statements with regard to the case. “Any individual/union doing so will be held solely responsible for trying to create discord in an amicably settled matter,” the TUCT notice cautioned.
