CYO Medziphema condemns killing
DIMAPUR: Chakho youth organization (CYO) Medziphema, has expressed resentment against the brutal and inhuman killing of Rokovilie Angami and Aye Kapfo of Toulazuma village. It further added that comments passed by Assam police over the incident were highly questionable, inflammatory, and unbecoming of a police officer in duty. CYO urged Nagaland police to show their efficiency and competency by bringing justice at the earliest.
KSU Wokha conducts checking
DIMAPUR: Kyong students’ union (KSU) Wokha along with Wokha police DEF conducted a surprise checking on students roaming and loitering during class hours at Wokha town on October 12. The union has expressed gratitude to SP Wokha for providing security personnel while conducting inspection. Further, the union, in a condolence message, has mourned the demise of general secretary, Chukitong town students’ union, Z. Aron Ngullie on October 13.
SBC 11th Biennial conference
DIMAPUR: Sumi Baptist convention would be held its 11th Biennial conference on October 22-24 at Trinity theological college, Thahekhu, Dimapur, under the theme ‘re-visioning the church ministry’. Rev Dr Hevukhu Achumi, director SBC has requested all Churches under SBC (SBAK, Nito mount, SABAK, Pughoboto WSBAK, Akuvuto) to send three delegates (pastor, deacon and GB). An orientation service would be conducting on October 24 and all ministers under SBC have been requested to bring their ministry gowns for orientation service. Meanwhile, SBC has convened an executive meeting on October 21, 4pm at TTC.
Entrance test for 23rd batch VFA trainees
DIMAPUR: The principal, VFA training institute, Medziphema has informed that entrance test for 23rd batch of VFA trainees for the session 2011-2012 would be held on November 30. The session would commence from February 2011. Interested candidates within 16-23 years of age and single with minimum qualification of HSLC passed may collect application forms and prospectus from the office of principal VFATI Medziphema on any working day within October 30 to November 10.
ANCSU beat contest
DIMAPUR: As part of collegiate meet scheduled to be held November 22-26, All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has informed that it would be organizing a beat contest at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima. Union has requested bands from various bands in Nagaland to participate in the contest in which, each band would be allowed to present one song of choice and one compulsory common song titled “hammer of justice” from the album ‘Hammer Fall’. Last date of submission of forms will be November 15, and interested bands have been informed to contact ANCSU social and cultural secretary at 8014021070.
KBES youth sports ministry session held
DIMAPUR: Kyong Baptist Ekhumkho Sanru (KBES) conducted the second Lotha lower range youth sports ministry programme from October 14-17 on the theme ‘You are the Light of the World’ at Roni ‘A’ Baptist church. All Christian fellowship (ACF) Dimapur, director, Chinithung Shitiri, Rev. Yankey Patton and Nogothung Ezung were the main speakers of the programme. Many people attended the programme and rededicated their lives to God.
Phek district SHGs training
DIMAPUR: Department of agriculture conducted a one-day district level training for self help groups (SHG) under ‘women in agriculture’ at Phek on September 27 where 10 SHGs participated. DAO Phek Imtitemjen delivered the keynote address and welcome speech, while resource persons for the training SDAO Pfutsero Sanuzo Nienu, and DAO Pheck AO Rokwetsholo Kapfo deliberated on various topics including packages and practices of important winter vegetables, economics and marketing of vegetables in the context of the district. The training programme was concluded with distribution of winter seeds such as onion, cabbage, beetroot and brocolli to the participants.
DIMAPUR: Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) has convened a meeting-cum-picnic programme on October 23 at ‘Zero’ point Chakhabama, near Dzü-ü River. DCC has requested all its executives, ACCC office bearers, frontal organization office bearers and senior leaders to attend the programme. Members have been informed to reach the spot at 10 am.
DC Longleng informs on revision of ER
DIMAPUR: Deputy commissioner and ERO Longleng has informed public and political parties of Longleng district that the special summary revision of electoral roll (ER) for 2011 with January 1, 2011 as the qualifying date has been scheduled as October 30 for draft publication; October 30 to November 23 for filing claims and objections; November 7, 13 and 21 for special campaign dated with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections; December 23 disposal of claims and objections ; and January 5, 2011 for final publication of electoral. Further, all BLOs of Longleng district have been directed to report and collect necessary materials for summary revision form the office of the DC and DEO on October 27.
ICD freshers’ day-cum-parting social
DIMAPUR: Immanuel College Dimapur held its 17th freshers’-cum-parting social on October 8 with Dimapur chamber of commerce secretary Chandu Agarwal as chief guest. Highlights of the program were short play by freshers and traditional attire competition. The programme was attended by members of Rotary Club of Dimapur & Rotaract Club of Dimapur, who also donated a water filter each to the college.
Primary school health programme
DIMAPUR: A primary school health programme was held at GPS Humtsoe under Wokha district on October 19. Altogether 84 children were examined and free medicines distributed to children with health problems. Teacher in-charge G.P.S Humtso has extended gratitude to B.Hozhuli Humtsoe ANM PHC Humtso and Bankathung Humtsoe Pharmacist for their valuable service rendered to the children of G.P.S Humtsoe.
