Adviser, Nagaland Music Task Force and chairman, Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board Dr. Nicky Kire, has congratulated all ranks and file of the 15th Nagaland Armed Police (IR) Mahila Battalion for their commendable work at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games held at the National Capital, New Delhi.
Kire observed that it was a matter of great pride that the disciplined, courteous and confident personnel of the battalion earned plaudits from no less than the Union Home Minister, GoI, the residents of Delhi, spectators and athletes of the games and people from all walks of life and nationalities.
He expressed that despite being introduced to an alien cosmopolitan environment and being entrusted with the task of maintaining a peaceful and secure environment for the games, the battalion had inspired confidence and a sense of security in the minds of the people bringing attitudinal change in the minds of general public as well as Delhi police personnel towards girls from Northeast, and those with similar racial features who are often stereotyped together.
Stating the Mahila Battalion had reflected the image of the state police and had made department, state government and people of Nagaland proud, he asserted they have also justified the stand of those who had vociferously advocated and fought for setting up of the Mahila Battalion.
Dr. Nicky also affirmed that their actions would be an advantage for setting up more Mahila Battalions and encourage parents, daughters and sisters to consider uniformed service as a serious career option if supported by the central government, NPF led DAN government under Neiphiu Rio would to ensure more employment opportunities for girls and youth.
