Crime reports in Dimapur, Kohima

Assam Rifles personnel on Wednesday morning recovered arms and explosives from a house located at Niu colony Dimapur, and arrested five persons including an ‘ss’ major of GPRN/NSCN in the process.
Three small arms of different caliber along with magazines, ammunitions, seven detonators, one packet each of TNT and explosive powder, and a hand grenade were recovered from their possession. The accused were later identified as ‘ss’ major Phuyeka of GPRN/NSCN, Daniel, Aboka, Ato Sema and Itsuni Sema (all middle men).
2 NSCN (IM) cadres held
Police arrested two cadres of NSCN (IM) from Burma Camp on October 4 while they were moving about in a suspicious manner. The accused were later identified as ‘ss’ kapur Hoviye and ‘ss’ corpl Yekato. A 9mm pistol along with 3 live rounds of ammunition along with several incriminating documents was recovered from their possession.
3 held for extortion
Three extortionists were apprehended by Dimapur police from different locations within the past two weeks. In the first case, two persons identified as Asing Thangkul and Henry Kom was arrested on October 6 while they were trying to extort money from a fruit vendor. A .32 pistol along with a magazine was recovered from their possession.
While in the second case, one person was arrested while trying to collect money from a hotel near SBI main branch on October 12. The accused identified as Ato alongwith his friends had earlier issued a demand note of ` 1000 the previous day in the name of FGN.
KOHIMA: Phek police personnel manning Lanye check gate arrested one person and a country made pistol from his possession Wednesday evening.
According to police, the arrest was made during routine checking and the accused identified as one Netoi, of Natsami village under Kiphire district, reportedly a Tata Sumo driver.
A case has been registered under Arms Act at Phek police station. Phek police also arrested three extortionists and seized three arms along with some ammunition on October 15.
SP Phek, W Krome confirmed that the police on receiving information that some miscreants were extorting from vehicles between Lanye check gate and Losami village rushed to the spot and apprehended the two while another accomplice managed to escape. The arrested duo was identified as ‘ss’ Sgt.Chisakhoyi Keyho, of Phek village and member of the FGN (Accordist) and the other Vevezo Rhakho of Thevopisi village (driver).
Later, police also arrested the accomplice who fled was identified as ‘ss’ Capt.Sheyeveto hailing from Phek village and also a member of FGN (Accordist). During the hunt, police also recovered an LMG, an SLR, a US Carbine along with some ammunition and two sets of camouflage uniforms.
A case has been registered at Phek Police station and booked the three on account of extortions and illegal possession of arms and ammunition.
