The programme committee meeting of NEZCC was held on October 22 at the conference hall of NEZCC. The meeting was chaired by Dr. K. Sarojini Devi, director, art and culture, government of Manipur and attended by members from northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland.
Director, NEZCC Som Kamei, IPS gave a brief highlight of the programmes implemented by NEZCC under various schemes of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
He informed the committee that during the year 2009 – 2010, NEZCC was able to conduct 41 major programmes, 59 headquarter /sponsored programmes, four collaborative programmes, three Umang festivals for differently able persons, two programmes for promotion of women activities, one programme in border area, 11 programmes in Shilpgram, two reviving tradition programmes and participated in 27 programmes within and outside the zone under national cultural exchange progrmme, 15 programmes were conducted/assisted under theatre rejuvenation scheme, 39 Guru Shishya Parampara Kendras were opened, 37 young artistes were awarded under ‘Young Talent Scheme’ and 13 documentation projects were taken up under documentation scheme across the member states of the NEZCC. The programme committee of NEZCC reviewed the activities undertaken by the centre during 2009-10 and the current year and finalized the plan of programmes for 2011 – 2012.
The committee also approved to conduct a festival of North East in all the eight member states in rotation to provide a common platform to the artists from all member states of NEZCC.
