Citing “certain technical difficulties,” the Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) and Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) deferred its proposed mass peace rally scheduled on October 26 at City Tower Junction, Dimapur.
The objective of the rally is to press the Centre for expediting and settling the political dialogue between the Centre and NSCN (I-M) at the earliest.
The three NGOs in a joint press statement said they would however hold an emergency consultative meeting on that day (October 26) at Zonal Council Hall Kohima at 11:00 am to deliberate on vital issues concerning Naga people.
In this regard, all the executive members of the three organizations and its representatives from all federating units and also representatives from ENPO, ENSF, Dimapur Naga Council, United Naga Council, Tenyimi Public Organization, GBs & DBs have been requested to attend the meeting positively.
NNC on rally,
immoral activity
Close on the heels of the GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN stating that the proposed October 26 rally was inappropriate at this juncture, the NNC has also expressed concern over the rally “in support of only one Naga group’s stand” and said that the organisers should think twice before taking any step at this very crucial stage of peace and unity.
Information and publicity wing of the NNC said holding the rally in support of only one Naga group’s stand would create more confusion and hamper the peace and unity process in the Naga homeland in totality. Stating that the peace and unity process was a must for the salvation of the Naga people and the ‘Nation,’ the NNC said the organisers should rethink it decision to hold the rally in the larger and best interest of all and entire Naga people.
Meanwhile, the NNC condemned all “immoral activity” by some Naga girls in the homeland and in other places. It said those who were engaged in immoral activities should be severely punished by all the Naga national workers for tarnishing the good image of Nagas and degradation of the Naga society at large.
Warning all those who exploit Naga girls, NNC said they (exploiters) would be held responsible for anything that may happen to them.
