General public of Chessore areas have been facing untold hardship owing to the pathetic road condition along Helipong and Chessore road and Ngangpong to Chessore road.
Trucks and other vehicles are unable to ply on the road thereby causing shortage of essential commodities and other eatables in 12 villages in Chessore area.
Chessore area public have appealed to the department of NPWD (R&B) to repair the road between Helipong and Chessore road 0.7 km and Ngangpong to Chessore road 0.19 km which is main life line of the people of the two areas. The public also said patients or for that matter any person tending to any emergency related work has to travel on foot for at least 40 kms from Chessore areas owing to poor road condition.
Bearing in mind the difficulty faced by the people of the area, VDB union Chessore block and vehicle owners jointly organized a mass social work on Wednesday by filling up potholes and other minor repair work between Helipong to Chessore road. Lakiumong BDO Chessore Block, who was present at the site appealed to the department to look the grievances of the rural people at the earliest for the benefit of the people. The public alleged that despite huge amount sanctioned by the government for construction of road, the department in-charge had been neglecting it by keeping mum on the plea made by the public.
The public who were engaged in the social work also appealed to the department to resume work between Ngangpong to Chessore road which was suspended from April 2010 due to poor maintenance by contractors. The public also appealed the engineer in chief, Road and Bridge department, to instruct the contractors and resume work at the site.
