North East Support Centre & Helpline (NESC&H) Friday said panic has gripped the NE communities living in Delhi with regard to reports of 40,000 women being recruited for Common Wealth Game (CWG) services and also for escort services. In a statement, NESC&H said the issue of human trafficking during the CWG has come to limelight. Spokesperson, NECS&H and PRS AICC Madhu Chandra said, “Nearly 100,000 men and women from NE are already employed in various companies in Delhi and NCR. We are reported in last two weeks about numbers of girls and boys missing in Delhi and NCR. Fresh recruitment could be for legitimate Games event, but some may be for escort services. We are extremely concerned at reports that many north-east girls have been lured by placement agencies for the Games. We fear they may fall into wrong hands.” We (NECS&H) are submitting a memorandum to the ministry of women & child welfare to take necessary steps to prevent human trafficking during CWG, the statement said. It also appealed to all Northeasterners living in Delhi & NCR cautious.
