State gets Rs. 25.13 cr for rural roads

Centre has released Rs. 25.13 crore to Nagaland under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to build rural roads. According to a rural development ministry statement, the government has in sum released Rs.116.88 crore to six states under the PMGSY to build rural roads. The states include Nagaland Rs. 25.13 crore, Haryana – Rs.17 crore, Tripura – Rs.35 crore, Uttarakhand – Rs.13.75 crore, Manipur –Rs. 21 crore and Andhra Pradesh Rs.5 crore. The sum had been released from a special window of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to various agencies in the states. PMGSY is a 100 percent centrally-sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in rural areas. It envisages connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in respect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads.
