Three students’ bodies, AMSU, KSO and Moreh Higher Secondary School Students’ Union have imposed bandh in Imphal-Moreh section of NH 39 effective from 6am on Friday for an indefinite period to pressurize state government to appoint principal of the only government run higher secondary school in the town.
The bandh called by the students’ bodies hit normal trade activities at the international trade centre in Moreh, on Saturday. Transport services and marketplaces remained largely closed in the town.
The students bodies demanding for appointment of principal to the higher secondary which had been laying vacant for the last seven month, also alleged government of neglecting the problems despite repeated pleas.
Further, the members of the agitating students’ bodies said that if government fails to comply with the genuine demands within October 4, the stir would be intensified, as closure of all central and state government offices, including banks and vehicles allotted to government department, boycotting of all government sponsored functions and others.
Meanwhile, the first day of the strike continued peacefully without any untoward incidents.
