The 33 Assam Rifles, with the help of Mob Fd Vet Hosp of 3 Corps made an effort to fill the void of veterinary healthcare to the livestock of village Kumbi. A free veterinary camp was organized on September 28 under Military Civic Action ‘OP Sadbhavana’. As the day progressed, large number of villagers brought their livestock, pets and poultry to be treated and was administered free vaccination against rabies, foot and mouth disease and hemorrhagic septicemia and black quarter.
More than 600 animals were treated, de-wormed and vaccinated. It was the first time that such a camp was organized for their animals.
Under the supervision of Capt Vikas Sharma, his team of 3 veterinary assistants Dfr (Dsr) SK Singh, LDfr (Dsr) SK Biswas, Swr (Dsr) PK Mishra carried out the treatment, de-worming and vaccination of the animals. Queries on livestock management, first aid and feeding by the gathering were also answered by the team.
The response from the villagers was overwhelming and the efforts of the army were well appreciated. Secretary of village Panchayat on behalf of GBs and villagers has expressed gratitude to 3 Corps and Army for organizing the free veterinary camp for the benefit of farmers of Kumbi village and requested that such camps be organized at least once in a year.
