RTI week Oct 5-12

Along with the rest of the country the Nagaland State will be celebrating RTI Week from October 5 to 12. During the week-long celebration, various programmes like workshops, seminars, press meets, competition in colleges on RTI related themes, display of hoardings/banners on RTI related themes etc would be organized throughout the state to create more awareness about the RTI. The celebration marks the completion of five years of the implementation of the RTI Act in the country. During the RTI Week the deputy commissioners in the state would be organizing functions involving government functionaries, eminent public leaders, members of civil societies, student groups etc in order to mark the significance of the RTI regime in the country. Further, an essay competition at the College/University level is also being organized in all the districts under the topics; ‘RTI and Good Governance’ and ‘RTI and Role of Citizen’ and cash money would be awarded to the three best winners in all districts. Nagaland Information Commissioner would also present special talk on RTI Act, 2005 and its implementation in India which would be broadcast/telecast on All India Radio, Kohima and Doordarshan Kendra Kohima. An interface meet with the press fraternity is also being organized through the department of information & public relations, according to DIPR.
