The ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’, as envisaged by the DAN government for the year 2010 saw Peren as the district with the highest turnout in the number of potential entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneur’s awareness programme held in Peren on October 4 under the chairmanship of DC, Khrienuo C. Mehta saw numerous potential entrepreneurs intending for several enterprises from vegetable farming to software development. Khrienuo in her speech said the government needed to promote entrepreneurship in the state and urged entrepreneurs to select the work seriously, and to set an example in the state by fulfilling the slogan of the government.
Das, a faculty from the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurs challenged on the current situation where most of the intending entrepreneurs embark on entrepreneurship not by choice but by chance. He urged the congregation to seriously take up entrepreneurship as a lifelong career since it is a lucrative job. T. Mayang Jamir, project officer (Trg. & Exh.), directorate of industries and commerce stressed on the need for entrepreneurs to equip themselves with the latest know-how of their projects through intensive training which he said will be given by state government in collaboration with different companies.
P. Zuvito Waths, manager of Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation Ltd., highlighted various schemes of the corporation through which genuine entrepreneurs could avail loans for expansion and modernization of their enterprise.
Functional manager of DIC Peren, Tokhuga Achumi in his speech urged entrepreneurs of Peren district to take up responsibility and commitment with hard work and dedication. He also expressed the need for relaxation of entrepreneur’s age so many matured entrepreneurs could also be accommodated.
Among the members and judges present were deputy commissioner, Peren, faculty from IIE, Manager NIDC, Project Officer, DIC, Functional Manager DIC Peren, and inspector DIC Peren, Alum Zeliang.
