Essay competition on RTI
DIMAPUR: As a part of RTI week in Nagaland, an essay competition would be conducted in Dimapur on ‘RTI and good governance’ and ‘RTI and role of citizen’ on October 11, 11 a.m at DC’s conference hall. The competition would be conducted for college level. In Tuensang, the competition for college and higher secondary students would be held on the topic ‘RTI and role of citizens’ on October 9. RTI senisitzation seminar would also be organized at Town Hall Tuensang on October 22 at 11 a.m.
NSCBMDS executive meeting
DIMAPUR: Executive meeting of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Memorial Development Society (NSCBMDS) Nagaland has been convened on October 9 at the residence of its health secretary Dr. Nuvotso Khesoh, Kohima. The main objective of the meeting would be on Netaji’s last camp at Chesezu village in India.
CASUK freshers’ day
DIMAPUR: Freshers’ day of Chen Area Students’ Union Kohima (CASUK) would be held on October 9, 9:30 a.m at DUDA guest house, Kohima.
ASU ‘work and earn day’
DIMAPUR: Akuk Students’ Union will be conducting a one day programme on ‘work and earn day’ within Wokha town on October 9 in aid of its forthcoming 62th annual session. All students studying above Class V have been informed to participate for the betterment of the students’ community.
ANSGFEA general body meeting
DIMAPUR: The general body meeting -cum- election of new team of office bearers of the “All Nagaland State Grade-IV Employees Association” (ANSGFEA) would be held on October 15 at 11 am at Zonal Council Hall Kohima. All HoD offices have been requested to send two members for filling up of different posts of the association for the next tenure.
Minor escapes rape attempt
DIMAPUR: A minor girl who was on her way to school escaped a rape attempt here on Wednesday morning.
Chumukedima Students’ Union (CSU) in a press handout by its president, Pelesavi Rurhie said that the victim, studying in class 4 in Government Primary School Chumukedima Town escaped an attempted rape by a “non local” man, when one of her classmate raised “hue and cry” on seeing the man closing the mouth of the minor and dragging her into the bushes behind the school (Nagaland Police complex).
On hearing the alarm raised by the victim’s classmate the man released the minor and ran away, the union said.
Child welfare committee meeting
DIMAPUR: Child welfare committee meeting (Mokokchung branch) has been convened on October 8 at 01:30pm in the office of the district welfare officer Mokokchung. All CWC members have been requested to make it to attend the meeting.
AKM to award merit students
DIMAPUR: Ao Students Conference (AKM) educational trust award which is being awarded to the toppers in different fields under Nagaland University among Ao community has made some changes. AKM has informed all federating and sub-ordinate units to submit necessary documents in accordance to the following criteria adopted by the award Trust Committee on September 20: 2008 – Year of Commerce, 2009 – Year of Arts and 2010 – Year of Science.
ARSU, ESU joint consultative meeting
DIMAPUR: Consultative meeting of Search Committee of Atoizu Range Students Union (ARSU) and Emloto Students Union (ESU) has been convened at the residence of Kahuto Chishi, Diphupar B, Dimapur on October 9 at 4 pm. All search committee members have been requested to attend the meeting.
Musical night at Noklak
DIMAPUR: As part of the celebrations of the State Road Show cum Tsokum festival, a musical night held at the public ground, Noklak on 5th October 2010, which was graced by Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Economics and Statistics, R. Tohanba as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest in his speech said that through music, peace and harmony prevails and called upon the youth to take interest in the field of music industry as well. The musical night featured rock bands, ethnic wear presentation, free stylers and solo competition. In the solo competition, Mary Khiamniungan bagged the first position, Nyukyan and Mono bagged the second and third place respectively. Toskum organizing committee organized the musical night.
IDSP interview
DIMAPUR: Interview for all applicants for various posts for IDSP under NRHM would be conducted on October 13, 10 a.m at directorate of health and family welfare, office Rüziezou, Kohima.
KNCS meeting
DIMAPUR: Kyong Naga Cultural Society (KNCS) has convened a meeting on October 9, 2 p.m at the residence of Dr. P. Ngullie, near Assemese Baptist Church, Kohima to deliberate for the Mr & Miss Tokhu Kohima 2010. Therefore, all the Mr & Miss Tokhu Kohima, 2010 Committee members, Society Advisors and representatives are requested to attend the meeting positively. KNCS informed that Mr & Miss Tokhu Kohima 2010 contestant forms would be available at Multi Access, Opposite Hotel Fira, Jail Colony, Kohima and Computer Concept, Opposite Kohima War Cemetry.
Longleng LDA results
DIMAPUR: Result of the written exams for district LDAs under Longleng has been declared. Roll numbers of selected candidates are: 4,24,27,37,46,47,85,116,117 and 120. Selected candidates have been informed to report for interview on October 7, 10 a.m at DC office chamber Longleng and to produce original documents.
DYE meeting
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Yanpha Ekhung (DYE) has convened a meeting on October 9, 10 a.m. at the residence of Ekhung secretary, Duncan Bosti Dimapur. All the members have been requested to attend the meeting.
ANCSU notifies
DIMAPUR: All Nagaland college student union (ANCSU) has notified all college presidents/general secretaries affiliated to ANCSU that by-election to the post of president would be held on October 8. All units have been requested to send two representatives from their college along with their identity card.
ASTKU foundation day
KOHIMA: The 3rd foundation day cum annual meeting of Akehda Sangtam Laru Thsingmujang Kohima Unit will be held on October 9 at 10 am at Red Cross conference hall, Kohima. All members above the age of 18 based under Kohima jurisdiction have been asked to attend the meeting. All Sangtam women residing in Kohima and married to other tribes have also been invited to the meeting.

KOHIMA: Lhisemia Students’ Union of Kohima Village would be observing its 62nd day on October 9 at 10 am at Kohima village council hall. Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu will be the chief guest.

Free birth certificates issued at Noklak
DIMAPUR: To mark state road show cum Tsokum festival at Noklak, department of economics and statistics distributed statistical handbooks, booklets on economic survey, village level development indicator, calendars and necessary materials for school going children, free of cost. Department also issued birth certificates for children below 3 years of age. Around 300 birth certificates were issued free of cost during the festival.
B. Tech students visit local industries
DIMAPUR: B. Tech students of the department of biotechnology and agricultural engineering & technology under the guidance of Dr. P. Nongdam and Imlitoshi Jamir, assistant professors, department of biotechnology and guest faculties of agricultural engineering & technology, SETAM, Nagaland University undertook a local industrial visit to RC Cola Pvt. Lt. and DIMUL, Dimapur on October 4. In the Pepsi Bottling plant, Bokha Chishi, the chemist showed students how underground water can be harnessed and purified at different levels to give to the final product of packaged drinking water. At Dimul, Dr. Mhasizokhu narrated on working model of DIMUL and how it got established. He also demonstrated the students different techniques and machinery involved in the manufacture of different milk products which had been successfully introduced in the market commercially in and around Dimapur.
KNRSU 2nd social meet cum fresher’s day held
DIMAPUR: Kohima Nyiro range student union held its 2nd social meet cum freshers day on September 25 with Ekonthung Ezung, adult education officer, directorate of school education as chief guest while Longtsuo Yanthan PA to project director NSACS exhorted the students. The union thanked Motsuthung Lotha, joint secretary, Ekonthung Ezung, adult education officer, Er Janbemo Ngullie, additional chief engineer PWD, Longtsuo Yanthan, Dr. Thungjamo Ezung, deputy director V&AH dept, Khonthungo Kikon, junior section officer, Ayingo Ngullie, deputy manager Axis bank Kohima, Er. Myanrao Ezung, Nthungo Ezung ARCS for their financial contribution towards the union’s fund. The Fellowship with union has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2010-2012 with Yanithung N Ngullie as president, Rapenthung as general secretary, Adeno as finance secretary and Zuchanthung as assembly speaker.
NSSWB elects new members
DIMAPUR: State government has appointed non-official (central nominee) as members of Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) with immediate effect. A notification issued by secretary to the government of Nagaland Neihu C. Thur IAS stated that the term of appointment would be co-terminus with the term of chairperson of the NSSWB. Members are Khegholi Aomi, C/-o Ismeet Enterprises Church Road Dimapur and Atsole Wezah Congress Bhavan Kohima.
