PIOs, APIOs sensitized on RTI

Kohima district administration organized a workshop on RTI on the theme ‘Transparent and Accountable Governance’ on October 6 at DC’s Conference hall Kohima. The workshop was held with deputy director, ATI, S. Rongsen and senior lecturer ATI Kohima, Worhonthung Ezung as resource persons, where Rongsen gave PowerPoint presentation on provision of RTI Act while Ezung talked on roles of citizen, success stories of RTI Act in Nagaland and other states, how to promote RTI etc. The programme covered two sessions and was attended by PIOs/APIOs and representatives of civil societies.
In Phek, RTI week was observed by conducting the workshop at DPDB Conference Hall Tuesday. DC Phek, Mikha Lomi in his short introductory speech said RTI as an act, which has been heard much about, but most of the people were not aware of its benefit and implication.
He stated that such workshops were necessary both for government officials as well as NGOs and public so that the Act would not be misunderstood and misused for harassing and fiddling personnel scores. EAC Sadar Phek, Er. Imokokla gave a power point presentation on the RTI Act which was followed by an interaction, discussion amongst the participants. The programme was chaired by ADC and PIO Phek, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe.
