Bakeries asked to check unlabelled food products

Directing all proprietors of bakeries in Kohima to rectify label of the products, chief medical officer Kohima and local health authority notified that bakery products from other districts without proper labeling would not be allowed for sale in Kohima.
The chief medical officer in a press notice stated that many bakery food products in Kohima were found to be unlabelled as against the requirement of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and Rules 1955. Chief medical officer also stated that many bakery food products coming from other districts especially from Dimapur were not labeled. The chief medical officer stated that the stated products were misbranded/labeling defects without manufacturing date, best before dates etc.
While directing all to comply with the directives, chief medical officer added that any unlabelled product found in the market would be seized and necessary action would be taken as per the Act with immediate effect.
