Opening a new chapter for the farmers, the inaugural function of the farmer’s club Kidima cum training program for rural people of Kidima on “Financial Literacy” took place on Wednesday.
Addressing the villagers as the chief guest Dr. U.S Saha, general manager NABARD, Nagaland R.O Dimapur declared it would adopt Kidima village for formation of farmer’s club, self help group, joint liable group for taking up all potential activities for economic development land prosperity of the village through credit and other assistance.
He said that formation of such groups was important for farmers and rural people for economic development, adding, contribution of individual skills and talents would lead to dynamic activities and help generate more productivity.
While assuring to provide loans to the farmers he reminded one ought to make the best use of the money and earn adequate income as well as re-pay it on time.
He urged individuals, groups and clubs present to be responsible while dealing with cash, adding, it would not only help maintain traditional culture but traditional activities and progressive economy respectively.
Describing the club members as pioneers, he urged them to take care of the younger cohorts. Speaking as guest of honour, B. K. Thadani, managing director, NSCB mentioned that the inauguration was a milestone of development to support farmers. He also called on the villagers and the department to come together and extend support to farmers.
A guideline speech on “Financial Literacy- A Concept for rural Livelihood” was made by Vizo Kere, Nodal officer, NSCB.
Earlier the program was chaired by Ketholeno Soleho, CEI, NCUI, New Delhi Kohima Branch, and invocation prayer by Rev. Keholeshii Tepa, Pastor Baptist Church Kidima, followed by welcome address by Vitsu Martin Rikha, chairman, village council, Kidima and vote of thanks by Dr. Keduzol Ltu, general advisor, farmer’s club Kidima.
