: Kohima police Thursday indicated that the NSCN (I-M) cadre, ‘ss’ capt. Vitokhu Sumi, who was injured on October 6 firing in Kohima might have been accidental. The prima facie from the bullet entry on the victim so far indicated that the bullet was fired from above and got lodged on the buttock, which was extracted during operation from the hospital later. Moreover, the bullet head extracted from the victim was observed to be that of a smaller caliber and not 9 mm or any other small arms, which the police and IRB use. However, police said that the matter was subjected to further investigation and confirmation from the expert point of view. Sources also said that the condition of the injured victim was in a stable condition. Meanwhile, a separate case has been registered against unknown miscreants at the North Police Station in connection with the arson at the Congress Bhavan on Tuesday night and the indiscriminate firing on Wednesday during the electioneering process of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee.
