Ops along Assam-AP border

Anti-insurgency operations have been intensified along the Assam-Arunachal border after the security forces gunned down four NDFB cadres last Sunday in Arunachal's East Siang district.
Joint operations were being carried out along the inter-state border and in vulnerable pockets of forest areas, where the rebel outfits are reportedly hiding, official sources said.
Besides army commandos, police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the areas for conducting operations against the militants, sources added.
Meanwhile, the Dhemaji district administration reviewed the latest law-and-order situation recently and has beefed up security arrangements.
Top police officials of West Siang and East Siang districts, assembled in a meeting and formulated the joint operation along the border and pledged to keep strict vigil on suspected movements along the border and forest villages to foil any subversive attempt by the rebels.
Highly placed police sources informed that several cadres of anti-talk faction of NDFB and some activists of Liberation Democratic Council of Misingland (LDCM) are taking safe shelter in the jungles of vulnerable State border areas.
"The joint anti-ultra operation along the Assam-Arunachal border is on to crackdown the militant activities. Requisition has been made for additional forces to intensify the ongoing operations and it will continue until the rebel base in the area is uprooted", informed the Dhemaji Superintendent of Police, Pradip Ranjan Kar.

Security forces had gunned down four hard-core cadres of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) in the hilly forest of Old Deka village bordering Dekapam in Dhemaji district of Assam, on October 3.
