Distribution camp for differently abled in Tsg
DIMAPUR: All differently-abled person, beneficiary of Tuensang district who had attended assessment camp of early 2009 and September 11, 2009 have been informed to participate in the distribution camp to be held on October 22, 9 am at Tuensang town hall. MLA Tuensang Sadar 1, P. Chuba would grace the occasion. All beneficiaries have been requested to reach the venue before 9 am.
NSWON fasting
and prayer service
DIMAPUR: National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON) has informed all woman cadres and mothers of NSCN that a special fasting and prayer service would be conducted on October 15 from 8am to 12noon 2010 at Hebron Church. NSWON vice chairman, B. Dilbung stated that the members would pray for all national workers who are in enemy’s jail and their families and for the success of the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks.
Miss Tokhu
DIMAPUR: Ekhyan Okho will be organizing Miss Tokhu beauty pageant 2010 on November 6 at Wokha town. DIMAPUR: Last executive meeting of Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) for the tenure (2008-10) has been convened on October 12 at 2pm at the residence of its banker.
DBHSS postpones silver jubilee celebration
DIMAPUR: Silver jubilee celebration of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) scheduled on October 11 has been postponed to November 13 due to inclement weather. Principal Fr. Manual Paikada SDB has expressed regret to all parents, teachers, students, alumni and well wishers. The principal further informed that school would remain closed from October 11-16 on account of Durga Puja .
STKK annual meeting
DIMAPUR: Annual meeting of Suruhoto Tokukujo Kuqhakulu Kohima (STKK) has been convened on October 12, 4 pm at the residence of its banker. All office bearers and executive members have been informed to attend the meeting.
Odyuo Motsurui meeting
DIMAPUR: General meeting of New Riphyim village was held on October 6 to deliberate on the forthcoming Odyuo Motsurui meeting to be held on October 15. The village council has resolved that no official or personal business would be entertained on October 15 except for the Odyuo Motsuri meet. The village council, Baptist Church, New Riphym youth organization has resolved to ban use of intoxicants within the village on October 14 and 15. The Wokha town Riphym Yanthan Ekhung has also informed its members that bus has been arranged on October 14, 9 am at the residence of Steve Odyuo, Tsumang colony. All members of New Riphym from outside the village have been requested to reach the village on October 14 by 2 pm for a get together.
WDCC fetes new NPCC team
DIMAPUR: Wokha District Congress Committee (WDCC) has congratulated the new NPCC team led by S.I. Jamir. WDCC in a press release by its general secretary (admn), Zubemo Lotha stated that under the leadership of the newly elected president, the Congress party in the state would assume greater momentum in the days to come. It also extended its full cooperation to the new leaders and at the same time expressed gratitude to the outgoing NPCC president, I. Imkong for his contribution to the Congress party at the state and centre during his tenure as NPCC president.
Fisherman union Doyang new team
DIMAPUR: The fisherman union Doyang in its meeting cum election on October 5 at Chubi Bridge Doyang elected new team of office bearers for 2010-2013. The new team would be headed by Zanthungo Shitio as president, and Philip Yanthan as general secretary.
GPRN/NSCN clarifies
DIMAPUR: Apropos to the statement “recovery of JCB by GPRN/NSCN” issued by chairman UT I Lt. Col.(Retd) Jukiye Awomi, GPRN/NSCN which appeared on October 10 issue has clarified that the vehicle in question was in fact a dumper truck and not as mentioned. All other details of the said vehicle remained the same including the dateline to the owner.

BSF to conduct recruitment for constable post
DIMAPUR: BSF would be conducting massive recruitment for filling up 19857 posts of constable (CT general duty) for which recruitment process has been started.
All applicants irrespective of state /UT or recruiting agency of BSF are to be forwarded to, The Commandant (Recruitment) Pers Dte, HQ DG BSF, 10 CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003. According to BSF officials, candidates from Nagaland hardly turned up for the recruitment rallies. Since Nagaland has been allotted144 posts, the officials have requested interested Naga candidates to apply. Forms would be available at all districts headquarter post office in Kohima (number of OMR-100), Dimapur-(number of OMR-100),, Phek-(number of OMR-25), Zunheboto (number of OMR-25), and Tuensang (number of OMR-25).
INTCWS conducts seminar on career for arts students
DIMAPUR: India northeast tribal community welfare society, (INTCWS) Notun Basti, Dimapur under the banner of Libra Consultancy conducted a free educational career-oriented seminar for class 12 arts students of Little Star Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, in the school premises on October 5. Resource person lecturer Aheno, based on an earlier educational survey by the society, spoke on the different careers the students wish to take up in life and highlighted various career options available for arts students. She also presented awareness and guidelines about admission outside the state and advised students to be alert and vigilant. Principal, Little Star Higher Secondary School, Christina thanked the society for the seminar and said the students were immensely benefited by the seminar
The society in a press release issued by general secretary Lamtsala Sangtam stated that the society was in the process of conducting educational survey in different schools and colleges for both arts and science streams at higher secondary level.
UYO,UUF condemn October 4 hit and run case
DIMAPUR: Usutomi youth organization (UYO) has condemned the killing of an employee of Gauhati High Court Kohima bench Kohima Atovi Kiho in a hit and run case on October 4. The organization in a press release issued here condemned the act of the driver who after hitting the scooter, in which the victim was traveling, fled from the scene. The organization has asked the driver to give a statement within few days time after the publication of this press release and also appealed to the authority to award befitting punishment to the driver. Meanwhile, Usutomi Urban Forum (UUF) also mourned the demise of Atovi Kiho a bonafide member of the forum. The union has further appealed to the competent authority to punish the erring driver as per law of the land.
