Two held with arms

In an extortion bid carried out, albeit unsuccessful, two persons were arrested by IRB personnel on Wednesday night below the Flyover, while they were fleeing after blank firing inside a shop.
According to police sources, the duo identified as Kito Sema (30) and Ikato Achumi (25), entered a reputed wholesale shop located at Durga Mandir at around 8 pm for an extortion bid and fired a shot.
The IRB patrolling party, who were nearby, heard the gunshot and saw two persons fleeing towards Hong Kong market area. They immediately swung into action and apprehended the duo. A .32 pistol along with two live rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.
A police team while inspecting the shop recovered the empty shell and bullet head which was fired. Meanwhile, the duo in their initial statement said that they were sent by one person identified as ‘ss’ Maden peyu Atoka of FGN for collection. They also disclosed that the weapon was given to them by him.
