‘New Wokha Village’ inaugurated at Wokha

Parliamentary secretary for RD & SIRD Pangnyu Phom inaugurated ‘New Wokha Village’ at Wokha on Friday. Stating that development starts from the village and not from the top, Pangnyu called upon the villagers to set a plan for all activities and to seek help from the government.
He said “We have to be our own master not rely everything on the government…and it is time for the people to tell the truth and live for the truth, for progressive development”. He also added that inter-village harmonial co-existence was important as Nagas are bound by certain norm which was followed down from fore-fathers for blessing and prosperity.
Later, he donated `1,00,000 and 100 bundles of CGI sheet towards the village. Dr. Chumben Murry minister, agriculture, exhorted the villagers to plan out for eco-preservation of flora and fauna. He also encouraged the villagers to maintain data records for posterity. DC Rovilatuo Mor, in his short speech shared his aspirations for the new village, while congratulating the land owners he said the location of the village being at NH had ample opportunities to show the other Nagas tribe, the master-plan which the village can set up. Yansathung Jami, Chairman Ktong Hoho, also spoke on the day and encouraged the villagers to emulate the best village in the district.
Earlier, Pangnyu Phom also inaugurated the resources centre at RD office complex Wokha. Director RD, Metsubo Jamir, who also spoke on the occasion called upon the people to implement the schemes judiciously. Short speech was also delivered by joint director SIRD. Resource Centre was constructed under BRGF Capacity Building.
