Four high school students who absconded from their homes in Kohima were on Thursday rescued by Women Cell of Kohima North Police Station along with assistance from Dimapur Women Cell. The four minors ran away from their homes in Kohima on Sunday last and were found in a hotel at Nyamo Lotha Road Dimapur on Thursday evening.
Two of the rescued boys are 12 years of age studying in Class 6 at Seikhazou Government High School, Kohima; while one is a class 8 student of Baptist High Kohima aged 14 years and the other, a class 7 student of Oking Christian School Kohima, aged 15 years. Police sources said the four rescued went seeking for jobs in restaurants and hotels in Dimapur. The four minors stated they planned to run away from home to escape punishment from school after being caught bunking classes and spent three nights at Dimapur Railway Station.
A police file that was registered on the case was later withdrawn on Friday evening after the rescued minors were brought in sound health by Kohima Women Cell led by S.I. Elizabeth Belho. (Correspondent)
