Taking serious note of the deplorable road condition between Khudei and Noksen, 0-70 kms from Tuensang, which passes through Ngoungchung EAC headquarter, Sangyuchung Range Union (SRU) on Sunday urged the state government to look into the matter at the earliest for the welfare of the people of the area. According to SRU president Komachingmak and executive chairman S. Khoni Chang, the road which provided the only lifeline for Noksen headquarter, had been left unattended for the past 2-3 years, causing untold hardship to the general public of the area. SRU stated that Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus service for Ngoungchung range has also been suspended and even private vehicles could not ply on the road, owing to the condition of the road. Union alleged that there was no sanction of any amount of money for repairing work for many years now, and that the public were facing great difficulties due to transportation problem, causing a great economic loss for their daily lives. Union leaders also said that serious patients, particularly of Ngoungchung range, were facing difficulty to reach district hospital due to the poor condition of the present road. General public of the area have reportedly been maintaining the road, meeting the expenses and wages on their own, however, it the road was yet to be repaired fully, SRU informed.
