The department of land resources Phek conducted orientation training under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) for three villages of Razeba area under the project at Community hall at Chobama/Tsüpfüma on October 21. District project officer (DPO) land resources, Phek N. Kehie in his key-note address urged trainees to take active participation through contribution and maintenance of their respective watershed areas earmarked for the project towards a sustainable manner.
He acknowledged the participating villages for the successful implementation of all departmental activities such as EPA, afforestation, horti-plantation, soil and moisture conservation measures etc. Khazi Lea, president, Phek district farmers union in his short speech, acknowledged the department officials for their sincerity and concern showed towards Razeba area by effectively implementing all developmental activities and also encouraged the department to concentrate even in remotest corner of the district.
Also Sanyi Dukrü, vice-chairman of Agricultural Produced Marketing Committee (APMC) Phek, while delivering a short speech extended support and guidance to the department officials and pledged to work together to up-lift the economy of rural populace in the district.
The topic during the technical session included concept of watershed management, package of practices of Horti-crops such as kiwi, plum, orange, banana, pomegranate etc. Formation of SHG’s, livelihood activities and cultivation of rabi crops (winter crops) were also discussed in detail during the sessions. Earlier, similar orientation training programmes were also conducted for all other blocks with 20 trainees representing each project villages. The training was conducted in Sakarba (Sakarba) town hall on October 6, Pfutsero (Pfutsero) guest house on October 7, Phek village community hall on October 12, NEN Resource at Chizami on October 13 and at Lasumi community hall (Zuketsa) on October 20.
