Two-day consultation on food security organized by regional rural development agency started on November 8 at YBBA Mission Centre, Shamator.
Senior coordinator CASA, NEI, L. Meru, was resource person. In the first session, L. Meru declared the FCRA registration followed by a dedicatory prayer by A. Akhang, chairman, RRDA.
In the second session, which deliberated on food security, L. Meru stressed on pertinent issues of climate change in the region.
He observed that climate change was a serious matter prevailing all over the country, where less harvest was reported due climatic change.
He expressed that survival problem might arise unless a pastor of each village takes responsibility for food security program.
Introducing the two-day consultation program on food security, Meru briefed that right to life was implemented in the form of PDS. However he regretted that the general public does not benefit due to the improper distribution. In spite of the central government changing to NREGA scheme from PDS, he said the scheme had failed in some areas.
In this regard, he stated that the invitation of pastors for the consultation was to target Church workers to work for saving lives with the help of the project taken up under RRDA. Altogether, 60 participants attended the consultation.
