Review meeting on departmental schemes was held at the Agriculture Directorate Conference Hall for 2010-11 on November 11.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Chumben Murry, minister for agriculture and H.K. Khulu, APC and principal secretary, agriculture. The programme implementation and status reports were presented by the scheme in charge which covered both the central and state plans.
Other agendas and problems with regards to the 2nd NER Agri-Expo 2010, statistical data and assessment of production, soil reclamation, natural calamities affecting crop areas, vision 2020 and agriculture policy, Republic Day programme and seed farm were discussed at length.
Azo encouraged officers to work collectively and contribute in sound statistics with a vision to substantially increase production annually besides putting in innovative ideas into the schemes.
He opined that there would be significant increase in the food grain production this year as compared to last year’s drought like situation in Wokha and Mokokchung districts due to rodents as a result of the bamboo flowering phenomena.
Principal secretary, agriculture assured to look into the issues raised by the department. A.Y. Ovung, director of agriculture and chairman thanked the minister for agriculture and APC and principal secretary, agriculture for participating in the review meet and suggestions for the department’s benefit.
