In connection with rationalization of polling stations and ongoing special Summary Revision of electoral rolls, Kohima district level standing committee (DLSC) meeting was held on Thursday at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of DC Kohima, Bei-u Angami.
According to an official bulletin, the meeting deliberated on segregation of electors and proposed new polling station locations under 8- Western Angami A/C, 9- Kohima Town A/C, 10- Northern Angami-I A/C and 12 Tseminyu A/C.
Due to public demand for voters’ convenience, some changes in polling stations locations were proposed under 8- Western Angami A/C, 9- Kohima Town A/C and 12 Tseminyu A/C. Pursuant to guidelines directing DEO to provide separate polling station for electors residing more than 2kms to exercise franchise, a new polling station was proposed under 10- Northern Angami-I A/C and 11- Northern Angami-II A/C.
All DLSC members were informed that during last revision conducted in June and July 2010 with reference to January 1, 2010 as qualifying date, the PS- 24 Jail Colony under 9- Kohima Town and PS- 6 Bayavu/ Sepfuzou under 10- Northern Angami-I A/Cs were segregated into two sections each as per guidelines of ECI. As per Commission’s direction, copies of authorization letter should also be endorsed to CEO, DEO and the ERO.
ACEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie informed that Nagaland would be implementing photo electoral rolls soon. Biometric census would also begin soon in Nagaland and Kohima district would begin from Botsa starting December 6 - 16 and cover all villages subsequently.
