TUENSANG: Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) the apex body of the Chang community on Thursday called upon the Public Work Department (Road & Bridges) to execute the on- going black topping of road within Tuensang town judiciously.
According to CKS president and secretary information & publicity, N. Kaimang and I. Akhum Soted Chang after witnessing the present execution of black topping at Tuensang town by department in charge, the Chang Khulei Setshang felt it was needed to appeal to the government of Nagaland not to allow such work to any individual within its jurisdiction but only to the department in charge.
Chang Khulei Setshang further requested the department to construct proper drainage for better longevity of the road without which the current black topping would be swapped away within a short period of time.
The CKS also notified to all roadside settlers, residents especially the shopkeepers not to dump/ throw waste and garbage near the road side or drainage in order to maintain the decorum of the town.
CKS further requested the Tuensang Town Council to construct proper dumping pits as it was found that the present dumping pits was obstructing the road side in many places/ sectors.
CKS further lauded the Public Work Department (Road & Bridge) for the on-going developmental works at Tuensang town and expressed hope that the department would implement the works appropriately.
Meanwhile, while taking serious note on irregularities of government staff including some head of the departments of Tuensang, CKS appealed to all government staff to be sincere in their duties while rendering their services to the people of Tuensang. CKS also cautioned that it would take action against any individual or agents/factions harassing any staffs, workers, deployed officials or obstruct the construction in any manner.
