Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has demanded immediate suspension of errant C-Coy 11 Bn IRB personnel for allegedly assaulting four of its bonafide members on November 10 at around 10pm at Deluxe point Dimapur.
WSSU in a letter to the SP Dimapur said that the four persons namely; Khekaho, Inoka, Aboka and Kiyelu were on their way back home when they were stopped by the inebriated jawans and mercilessly beaten without any rhyme or reason.
“The four youth were tortured, abused verbally and kicked mercilessly by the mob-of-jawans who even refused to listen to DEF guide and their commander at the time of incident,” the WSSU said. The union said one of the victims, Khekaho who recently underwent operation pleaded to the jawans for mercy but that the jawans were irked and further kicked at his operated spot.
WSSU said the Commander had to intervene to stop the “mad-jawans” to let the four victims go free. It was stated that the four of them went straight to East Police Station and lodged FIR after which they were taken to Civil Hospital for treatment.
Strongly condemning the “high handedness” of the errant jawans, the WSSU urged the SP Dimapur to take punitive action against the erring personnel by immediately suspending all the jawans involved in the incident. Failure to act as pleaded, the WSSU said, it would initiate own course as deemed fit and that in the event of any fall out, the authority concerned would be held solely responsible.
