Health talk on ARSH in Wka, Phek

Information Education Communication (IEC) bureau under H&FW department, Wokha district conducted School Health Talk on Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health (ARSH) in five schools.
Health information on RTI/STI, STDs, HIV and AIDS, signs and symptoms, facility available, role of parents and teachers and unsafe abortion were deliberated and leaflets on adolescence health were distributed.
Essay competition was organized based on adolescent health on the topic ‘Towards healthy adolescence’ on October 30 at CMOs Conference Hall.
Students from government high school, Englan won the 1st and 2nd prize and government high school got the 3rd position.
Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners.
Resource persons for the health talk included Dr. Yanren Jami, Gynaecologist District Hospital, Thomio Block, extension educator, Mhonbeni Ezung, district media officer, NRHM, and Longshi Ophthalmic, assistant District Hospital conducted eye screening.
District education officer Wokha has expressed gratitude for organizing the programme and requested the department of H&FW to conduct similar programmes in future for the benefit of students.
The team also thanked the principals, teachers, and students for their co-operation in making the programme a success.
Meanwhile, campaign on adolescents reproductive sexual health (ARSH) for five schools and one colllege organized by District Health society (NRHM) concluded on November 11 at Royal Foundation High School, Phek.
Measles consultant from Delhi, Anupam Verma was the main felicitator of the programme. In his introductory speech Verma said there were risks to life without proper sex education and one must have the knowledge and take it positively.
He asserted that bad moral was the root cause of all problems in society and reminded students to maintain good moral values and to be aware of risk taking behavior to avert eventuality.
He further highlighted the importance of measles vaccination which is planned in upcoming month.
Viewing on ARSH over all objectives and goals, short speeches were delivered by the team member, deputy MEIO, BMP, DPM, DMO, FWA and ANM. The programme concluded with presentation of cash prizes and certificates to winners of essay competition.
