Training of VHC/ANM/HCMC under communitization in Kiphire

One day training on capacity building for VHC/ANM/HCMC under communitization 2009-10 was conducted at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall at Kiphire on November 9.
Dr. I Sungit Jamir, CMO, Dr. Yanthan, MS, Dr. Khriesilie, Dy CMO, and officials from Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Imtimeren Director, Family Welfare, Dr. Kemp, Jt. Director, Health and Family welfare, Maryanla, Deputy Director, NSG attended the training.
The training was divided into two groups where ANMs was guided and led by Maryanla. Interacting with ANMs, Maryanla urged them to be in their place of posting for better service delivery to the rural poor, adding, to improve the health centre the ANMs needs to coordinate with different leaders in the villages.
She also requested ANMs to respect their uniform and maintain proper records and timely reporting.
Taking note of the problems faced by the ANMs in some centers in terms of accommodation, she assured to take up the matter to the higher ups for necessary consideration.
Addressing the members Dr. I Sungit stressed on the responsibilities of the VHC and HCMC and encouraged them to carry on with the service that has been entrusted to them.
Dr. Khriesi briefed out on the goal, duties and functions of different health committees. On the observance OF VHND, he apprised the committees to fixed specific day which is to be carried out every month and also have convergence with various set up in the village level.
Dr. Kemp while making a comparative analysis in the health delivery system after introduction of communitization, informed the committees that in spite of numerous shortcomings, the department was trying its best to fulfill the need of the people based on the local requirement.
Taking part in the discussion hour, participants expressed their concerns and also highlighed success stories with the coming of communitization.
Altogether 54 members were present at the training, where they assured to carry out the activities that have been entrusted to them.
The training concluded with the resolution where the committees and ANMs assured to extend co- operation to render their services in various health services and reiterate the resolution passed during the last State Conference on Communitization held at Ganesh Nagar i.e. compulsory immunization, VHND and compulsory observation.
The committee also decided to arrange/construct portable house for the accommodation of ANMs.
