Notice to MHA, state on Meghan’s issue

Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench Monday issued notices to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, External Affairs and Manipur government to produce the details of whereabouts of “the potential arrestee Rajkumar Meghen @ Sanayaima” at the earliest.
RK Ibenungshi, wife of UNLF chairman, RK Meghen filed a petition in the Guwahati High Court, Imphal Bench on October 29 last urging to produce her husband in the nearest police station or to a police station in his home town in accordance with the due process of law.
The hearing was held today and Justice T Nandakumar and AC Upadhay issued the notices returnable within December 6 next which the court also fixed hearing for admission of the case.
The ruling was given after hearing arguments of the counsel of the petitioner, Ph Dolendro. The ruling asked respondents of the case, Union home secretary, external affairs secretary and Manipur chief secretary to submit their affidavits with para-wise comments on the petition on or before December 6 next.
The court also ordered to inform the National Human Rights Commission on the notice served to the respondents.
