Review committee visit NEZCC, Dimapur

A high powered review committee constituted by government of India to review the 7 Zonal Cultural Centres in the country visited NEZCC, Dimapur on November 14 led by Dr. Sitakant Mahaptra, an eminent Jnanpith Awardee and former secretary (culture), government of India.
Dr. Mahapatra interacted with the former directors and eminent personalities and stressed upon the role of culture, binding the vast diversity of cultural heritage in North East and India.
He also emphasized on the important role of Zonal Cultural Centre in nurturing and relishing cultural traditions like tribal/folk art-forms to grow in the wake of socio-economic changes happening in the country.
He was briefed in detail by former directors on the work done in the past by NEZCC and also some of the problems being faced by the cultural centre due to its geographical location etc., in the region.
The meeting was attended by former directors of NEZCC, V. Hekali Zhimomi, Dr. Temsula Ao, Geoffrey Yaden, member, Governing Body of NEZCC, R. Ramakrishnan, secretary to Governor of Nagaland and chairman, NEZCC.
It may be mentioned that the high powered review committee is headed by MP Mani Shankar Aiyar of which Dr. Sitakant Mahapatra and Amol Palekar noted actor-director are members.
