NDS launched at New Market colony

The Neighborhood Development Scheme (NDS) was launched at New Market colony on Monday by Kovi Meyase, Revenue Officer (RO), Kohima as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Kovi Meyase, Revenue Officer (RO), Kohima said the Neighborhood Development Scheme was one of the major development programmes taking place in New Market for the last 20-25 years. He also expressed gratitude to the urban development department for giving New Market as one of the beneficiaries of NDS.
The RO also lauded the aspect of urban development department’s NDS as a “unique” as it involved community participation at grassroot.
He requested the NDC and public to grab the opportunity and expressed that the funds should be judiciously utilized for development of the colony.
Urban Development Assistant Director, Arenla said NDS was launched by the department in 2004-2005 as a “pilot project” on experimental basis and in the 5th year implementation in various wards in Kohima Town.
She said rs. 25 lakh was given to each ward under NDS for development of their wards and by this year all the 19 wards in Kohima town would be covered by the scheme. She further stated the department was contemplating to extend to other districts provided the department gets funds.
Earlier, New Market Colony, NDC Chairman, Keduozhotuo chaired the function and invocation prayer by Teisovise Pusa, deacon UBC, Kohima.
