Training on value addition
DIMAPUR: One day training on value addition was organized by the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU), and sponsored by ATMA, Tuensang on November 9. The resource persons were Ilika Assumi, farm manager (KVK) and Rükulü, programme assistant (KVK).
Ilika spoke on “How to make juice from fruits” while Rükulü talked on “How to prepare jam and pickle”.
Dr. Kevilisu, Programme co-ordinator also exhorted the crowd. Altogether 20 persons benefited from the training. CCSU has meanwhile extended gratitude to ATMA, Tuensang, Krishi Vikyan Kendra (KVK) and Horticulture Department, Tuensang for making the training a success.
Nagaland Drug Users conference
DIMAPUR: The 2nd Nagaland Drug Users Conference with the theme “Re- awakening dreams” will be held in State Academy Kohima on November 18.
Menukhol John, commissioner & Secretary Health & Family welfare department would be the chief guest.
During the conference, eminent persons from the state will exhort the community on various topics; Roles/Responsibilities of Drug User in Drugs and HIV prevention, Legal Issues and Rights, Formalization and Managing Networks in response to NACP III, Harm Reduction Strategies and Approaches, Drug users communities from all over the state will come and participated in the said program.
The apex body of people who use drugs (PUDs) of Nagaland, Nagaland Users Network will be hosting the 2nd General assembly of India Drug Users Forum (National body of PUDs) from November 19 to 21 in Hotel Japfu Kohima.
Azo, minister for health and family welfare will grace the august house as chief guest. Delegates/representative from all over the country and a representative from the Asia Network of People who Use Drug (ANPUD) would attend the program.
During this assembly, the house would deliberate on how to strengthen the national response to achieve its goal of reversing the HIV epidemic among people who use drugs, scaling up of harm reduction interventions programs for the injecting drugs users throughout the country, and how to promote a meaningful involvement of people who use drugs (MIPUD) in policy and program development that affects the lives of drug users. The house would also finale the constitution and conduct election for its executive broad members for a term of two years.
with SIC in Mon
DIMAPUR: Meeting with State Information Commissioner (SIC) Dr. Khuhoi Zhimomi and HoDs, PIOs and APIOs of Mon district has been convened on November 18, 10am at DC conference hall to review the mechanism for dealing with the RTI matters and its implementation in the departments. According to an official bulletin, DC Mon Dinesh Kumar has informed all HoDs, PIOs & APIOs to attend the meeting in person and submit a written report on RTI implementation in their respective district offices for the year 2008-09 and 2009-10 to the commissioner on the day of the meeting.
Agri dept clarifies
DIMAPUR: Directorate of agriculture has clarified on the ‘Review meeting of the departmental schemes’ published in this local daily on November 12 issue. Director of agriculture A.Y Ovung clarified that name of minister for agriculture mentioned in fourth paragraph should read as Dr. Chumben Murry and not Azo as published
State level youth festival begins
DIMAPUR: The 11th state level youth festival organized by youth resources and sports got underway at IG stadium on Tuesday with secretary youth resources and sports Nagaland Bendang Longchari as chief guest. Addressing the gathering the chief guest called upon the youth to make the best use of the festival to interact with one another, exchange ideas, stated an official bulletin. He added that the festival was the right forum for the youth expose their talents and to forget the ego of tribalism and move forward by helping each other.
Chairman joint director youth resources and sports, Arupe Zeliang in his opening address informed that the winner of the competition would be representing the state at the National Level Youth Festival to be held at Udaipur Rajasthan from January 12- 16 2011.Around 400 participants representing 11 districts are taking part in the competition.
