‘Everyday’ spices found adulterated

Chief Medical Officer and local (health) authority Kohima district has informed that the samples of chilly powder and turmeric (Haldi) powder of ‘Everyday’ brand, was found adulterated and was penalized for the same. On receiving the analysis report from the samples collected by the Food Inspectors on the spices, a product of the Sigma Spice Industries Pvt Ltd, A.T Road, Jorhat Assam, it was found that the particular food samples were not as per the required standard laid down under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act and Rules. It was found adulterated with Wheat Starch and was a violation of the Act and Rules, a released issued by Dr. L Ralte, CMO & Local (Health) Authority, Kohima District stated. It was informed that the vendors Raju Kumar (S/o R.B.Prasad) and Bishwanath Jaiswal (S/o M.Jaiswal) from whom the food samples were collected were being prosecuted in the CJM Court for exposing of sale of adulterated Chilly Powder and Turmeric (Haldi) Powder. In this regard, the vendors have been informed to obtain bill or cash memorandum or invoice from the manufacturers or distributors or dealers whenever they food items.
