In the aftermath of the settlement on the issue of implementation of 6th ROP in the state June last, the CANSSEA president Dr. K. David Sema Monday said service delivery system in Nagaland was unsatisfactory and called upon government employees to inculcate a better work-culture. He was addressing a joint meeting of CANSSEA general body office bearers and Dimapur district unit at directorate of geology & mining Dimapur today.
Highlighting CANSSEA’s efforts and struggles in demanding implementation of the 6th RoP, Dr. David said initially many had misunderstood the demand of employees initially, and that general body office bearers and 6th RoP demand forum had to bear the brunt of misconceptions and apprehension from many quarters.
However, he said it was from all those efforts that state government had finally agreed to revise the pay of employees from June 1, 2008 (notionally for fixation purpose), and actual cash benefit from April 1, 2010.
Dismissing the projection of CANSSEA as an “agitating association”, CANSSEA president said it was a misconception and stated that its efforts were made for the welfare of state employees.
Pointing out that since government has conceded to offer its employees what they deserved, Dr. David said it was the latter’s turn to execute their sincere services towards the public.
He also urged upon all heads of departments (HoDs) to allot assignments according to the ability of the staffs so as to achieve better results. CANSSEA president further called upon all government employees to bring out the best of their respective areas so that government’s funds could be appropriated.
Further, Dr. David Sema said federating units of CANSSEA should all work together and strengthen the central body.
Meanwhile, CANSSEA general secretary Vekho Vero apprised the joint meeting on various agendas and programmes of the association.
He also informed that CANSSEA would be hosting the forthcoming conference of the North East Government Employees & Teachers’ United Forum on November 30 at Kohima. CANSSEA Dimapur unit members also shared their views on various issues on the functions. They also put across suggestions for the central body members to consider and initiate steps to address them. It was learnt that altogether there are 123 state government offices - both district and directorate levels - in Dimapur district alone.
