Azo cautions govt. doctors

In a strong worded message to all government doctors, Medical minister Kuzholüzo (Azo) Nienu on Monday urged government doctors to “cut down” on private practices. Expressing his dislike towards it, Azo called upon the doctors to not only diagnose but counsel the patients, if need be.
He firmly said that doctors should not be ‘distracted’ and instead pay undivided attention towards its patients.
Inaugurating the Trauma centre and upgradation of Dimapur District Hospital, Azo underscored the importance of a trauma centre in Dimapur, pointing out that a lot of accident related cases takes place due to easy availability of liquor from neighboring Assam. Lauding the efforts of the doctors for catering to healthcare of the people, Azo urged them to be diligent in their duty. “If you smile and talk then half of your job is already done” he maintained.
Principal director H &FW Dr. V Sekhose in his keynote address informed that the trauma centre was funded by NEC while the upgradation of district hospital was carried out under the PM’s package.
He also disclosed that the Employee’s Insurance Cooperation attached with the district hospital has promised to provide a radiologist and a CT scan machine.
Earlier, CMO Dr Sukhato in his welcome address gave a brief presentation on the number of ER and medico legal cases (MLC) of Dimapur district hospital. Emphasizing on the data, the CMO urged Azo for adequate manpower for which he promised to look into the demands of the hospital. The CMO also assured that the trauma centre will be made functional as early as possible.
