Expressing discontent over the delay in execution of mini hydro project at Tehok, former MP Lok Sabha Wangyuh Konyak has sought clarification from power minister Doshehe Y. Sema, as to why the power department was still perplexed with this “small hydro project”.
To clear out the confusion, the former MP in a press note addressed to the power minister highlighted that in the budget session 2010-2011, the department had given `300 lakhs to obtain loan from NABARD. However, during 2009-2010, Wangyuh said the department gave `500 lakhs and the expenditure was furnished amounting to `510 lakhs, which was above the budget provision. In this light, Wangyuh queried as to why the power department had to keep budget provision of `300 lakhs under negotiated loan from NABARD as there was no question of taking loan against Tehok Mini Hydro project since central government MNES had already sanctioned `6000 lakhs as subsidy against the project.
He also alleged power department has been fooling the people every year by furnishing budget provision against the small project.
“Is there any problem in your department to send utilization certificate to the concerned ministry and get balance amount, instead of going for negotiated loan from NABARD and bringing financial burden to the state?”, added Wangyuh
The former MP Lok Sabha further requested the power department to examine the matter personally and reply to him in written.
