Freshers’ from different social backdrop or locale in a college come with high hopes and dreams and amalgamate wholly as the offspring of that particular institution to fulfill their purpose of earning a degree and seek for their next gateway in life.
The 18th annual freshers meet cum parting social of Eastern Christian College (ECC) was held on Tuesday at Padumpukhri, Dimapur in presence of assistant solicitor general of India, Akito Zhimomi as the chief guest.
The chief guest, an educated and refined man, an alumnus from India’s most distinguished and oldest law school, Government Law College (Mumbai) eloquently addressed the gathering on the importance of youth life. He said that youth represents the present and future. “Ours is the present and future for us to make, Let there be no mistake”, said Zhimomi. ‘
He also exhorted that youth being the instrument of change for betterment in present and future, should not seek out for changes only in the secular world but also in the religious sphere.
He also spoke on the importance of leadership and urged students not to have the “chalta-hai” or “kali-kuribo” attitude instead set up “single minded dedication”.
He lamented that in one’s youthful days, mistakes are made, but one should not dwell in the past and instead pace up with the world.
The college has more than 900 students enrolled in the current academic year with organizations like the NSS, NCC and also the Evangelical Union. A token of appreciation was handed over to two students for securing the 1st div in their exams.
Special presentation was meted out to the faculty members by the outgoing students, who in return got their round of presentation from the college.
The college’s title for Mr and Miss fresher 2010 was bagged by Chopika and Reshmi respectively.
