A marketing shed constructed under UNDP programme 2010 of department of soil and water conservation was inaugurated at Leangnyu village under Mon district on October 18.
The marketing shed was formally inaugurated by Nokwang Konyak DSCO, Mon and handed over to the village community. In his short inaugural speech, Nokwang appreciated the entire village community for their cooperation and support.
He pointed out that marketing shed should serve the purpose for what it was meant and should serve as a revenue house for the villagers by enabling them to sell their agriculture produce.
Meanwhile, Khekihe K Zhimo District Project Support Officer, UNDP Mon in his exhortation lauded the villagers and the department. He mentioned that any successful development work in the village would reflect on unity amongst the villagers and a good leadership.
Earlier, UNDP, Mon in their effort to sensitize the people and to create awareness amongst the masses under its project SLEM in the shifting cultivation of Nagaland conducted seminars on ‘Livelihood Programmes ‘at Hongphoi and Shangnyu village on October 22 and 25.
The UNDP officials elaborated and encouraged the villagers to take up the activities on professionalism on a sustainable manner.
