Tension in Tamenglong, Thoubal over arrests

Tension erupted Thursday at Tamenglong district headquarters and Kakching in Thoubal districts over arrest of two persons by the security forces.
The tensions erupted at Tamenglong district headquarters when womenfolk of the area protested against nabbing of a cadre of the NSCN (I-M) by troops of 12 Assam Rifles.
Dingpalhun Lambu of Khoupum village of Tamenglong district was nabbed by the security forces, despite strong resistance from the womenfolk, the troops reportedly took him away for handing over to police.
Meanwhile, tension erupted at Kakching area of Thoubal district, when womenfolk attempted to storm a local police station demanding whereabouts of a man picked up by security men.
Thounaojam Gouro Singh (50) was reportedly taken away by some people in uniform from his house at Lamjao Makha Leikai around midnight last night. They entered into the house by breaking the front door.
When family and local people came to know that he was not handed over to the police and Assam Rifles posts in the surrounding areas say no word of nabbing him, local people attempted to storm the Kakching police station this morning and demanded to let the family know whereabouts of Gouro. Police have not traced out his whereabouts till filing this report.
