In commemoration of 125 years of Indian National Congress, DCC Mon held a convention on Thursday at Mon town council hall with former Governor of Goa, Dr. SC Jamir as chief guest.
In his speech Jamir lauded DCC Mon for being the first district to host the convention in Nagaland, and emphasized on achievements made by Indian National Congress since 1885, stated an official bulletin.
Other highlights of the function were presentations of special numbers by AYC 45th A/C, short speeches by CLP leader, Tokheho, President NPCC, S.I. Jamir and MLA, N. Chingwang. Prizes were given to the winners of essay competition where Vejo from Edith Douglas School Cl-X, and Mowang, Holy Cross School Cl-VIII bagged the 1st and 2nd positions respectively.
Certificates were also awarded to the veteran congressmen of the district for their services. The function was chaired by K. Ethel Konyak and vote of thanks proposed by treasurer DCC Mon, P. Hoka.
